Types of Laminates: Textures, Finishes and Thickness

For most Indian furniture the right laminate is a 1.0 mm decorative HPL on the visible face, a 0.8 mm liner on the hidden face and 2 mm PVC or ABS edge banding — compact laminate only where panels must stand alone in wet areas. The finish is a separate choice: gloss for light, suede for everyday use, super-matte for fingerprint-prone shutters, textured or embossed-in-register for a convincing wood or stone look.

Office Vastu: Cabin and Desk Direction

Traditional Vastu guidance places the owner's cabin in the south-west of the office, with the owner seated against a solid south or west wall facing north or east, staff also facing north or east, and the north-east kept open and light near the entrance. Most of this also makes design sense — privacy, a wall behind the seat, daylight and calm circulation — so follow it where the plan allows, keep windows to the side of screens, and use layout fixes rather than demolition where it does not.

Luxury Interior Cost: What Changes at the Top End

Luxury interiors in India typically start where the premium band ends — around ₹3,500 per sq ft of carpet area — and commonly run to ₹6,000 or more, before air-conditioning, automation, appliances and art. The extra money buys design depth, natural materials, tighter workmanship, better services and bespoke furniture; it is justified only when each of those is specified, drawn and checked, not just promised.

House Plan for 20x40 Narrow Plots

A 20x40 plot is 800 sq ft (6096 × 12192 mm); with an illustrative 8 ft front and 4 ft rear margin and no side margins, the footprint is about 20 × 28 ft, or 560 sq ft per floor. That gives a 2BHK over G+1 with a car porch, a stilt-parking house with two living floors above, or a 3BHK over G+2 — provided the staircase runs along a side, daylight is brought into the middle, and local setbacks and FAR are confirmed first.

Conference Room Design: Acoustics, Lighting and Tech

A good conference room is sized from the table out — about 750 mm per seat, 1200 mm clear behind chairs and 2–2.5 m² per person — then tuned for sound (reverberation of roughly 0.4–0.6 s, partitions taken to the slab), light (about 500 lux on the table, soft light on faces for video) and technology (a display at least one-sixth of the farthest viewing distance tall, with cabling planned before the ceiling closes). Get those right and the finishes are the easy part.

Small Living Room Design Ideas for 2BHK Flats

A small 2BHK living room works when the circulation path is protected first, furniture is scaled down (a 1950 mm slim-armed sofa, a 900–1000 mm table, a 350–400 mm deep wall-hung TV unit), and the ceiling, walls and light are kept simple and bright. Plan the 900 mm route to the bedrooms and kitchen, then fit the seating around it.

Scandinavian Interior Design Explained

Scandinavian design is a way of making a home bright, simple and warm with light walls, pale wood, raised-leg furniture, natural textiles and layered lamps. In India it works best with warm whites instead of stark white, matte finishes, deeper window shading and cotton and cane in place of wool and sheepskin.

Kitchen Size Guide for 1BHK, 2BHK and 3BHK

NBC 2016 sets the floor at 5.0 m² and 1.8 m width for a kitchen, but workable Indian kitchens run larger: about 7 × 8 ft for a 1BHK, 8 × 9 ft for a 2BHK and 8 × 10 ft or more for a 3BHK, ideally with a separate utility. Width decides the layout — 1800 mm for one counter, 2400 mm for parallel or U, about 3600 mm for an island.

Hawa Mahal Jaipur: The Science of a Wind Palace

The Hawa Mahal, built in 1799 for Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, is a five-storey sandstone screen of 953 small windows that let the women of the court watch the street unseen. It stays comfortable not by magic but by shade, a porous facade, a shallow one-room-deep plan that allows cross-ventilation, and warm air rising through its height.

AI in Interior Design: What It Can and Cannot Do

AI is now genuinely useful for mood boards, style options, quick visual variations and drafting briefs, and it speeds up the concept stage. It cannot measure a site to the millimetre, guarantee clearances, read local bye-laws reliably, detail joinery, supervise workers or take responsibility — every AI image still needs a dimensioned drawing and a human check.

Turnkey Interiors vs Design-Only: Which Is Better

Design-only buys drawings and specifications, and the family then hires and manages every contractor; turnkey buys one contract for design and execution, with one party responsible for cost, quality and time. On a typical 3BHK the totals land in a similar band — the real difference is who carries the risk and how much of the family's time the project consumes.

Study Room Vastu for Students

Vastu guidance places the study in the east, north or north-east of the home and asks the student to face east or north, with the back to a solid wall and the door in view. Designers keep those rules but turn the desk so the window falls to the side, add a 4000 K task light of 300–500 lux, and size the desk at 740 mm high and 600 mm deep.
